Monitoring is different from an active infestation
Optional Rodent Monitoring Protection starts at $69 setup plus $15 per month. General pest service does not include rodent stations unless you add this protection. Active infestations, trapping, and exclusion require inspection and a written quote.
Before comparing prices, establish which problem the proposal addresses. Ongoing monitoring, removing active animals, closing entry openings, and sanitation are separate decisions. A monitoring price does not establish the cost of an attic or garage infestation.
Start with evidence rather than a sound alone
Tell us where you hear movement or find droppings, gnawing, tracks, or nesting material. Scratching at night is a reason to inspect, but it does not identify the species or prove the entry route.
The inspection looks for signs of roof rats, pack rats, or mice and for the routes they may be using. Roof edges, vents, garage corners, utility openings, sheds, and stored items can require different access. Share any access limitations before the visit.
Removal and exclusion belong in separate line items
Trap placement and follow-up should respond to the observed activity. Exclusion addresses openings that animals could reuse. Closing an opening without understanding the active infestation can leave the original problem unresolved.
The quote should list the removal work, openings to be addressed, materials, access requirements and follow-up responsibilities. A difficult roof opening and a garage corner are different jobs; an inspection establishes what is practical at your property.
Discuss debris and cleanup before work begins
Nesting material, food sources, fruit drop, and stored items may be relevant to the inspection. Droppings or affected insulation also raise questions about cleanup. Do not assume sanitation or insulation replacement is included in a trapping quote.
